Dr. Antonio Del Vecchio, biographical sketch

Antonio Del Vecchio obtained the MSc degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology from the University of Ferrara (Italy) in 2015. After one year as Medicinal Chemist in Aptuit Research Center (Verona, Italy), he joined the Service de Chimie Bioorthogonale et de Marquage (SCBM) at CEA-Saclay (French Atomic Energy Commission) under the supervision of Dr. Davide Audisio and Dr. Frédéric Taran as Marie Curie Fellow, in October 2016. Here, he received his Ph.D. working on new synthetic methodologies involving CO2, photocatalysis and carbon radio-labeling. From 2019 to 2021, he joined the Prof. Dr. Ackermann group at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen (Germany) as postdoctoral researcher, working on metalla-electrocatalyzed C–H activation/functionalization and electrooxidative couplings. From 2021 to April 2023 he joined the Dr. Mauduit group as postdoctoral researcher at the Organometallic Chemistry Department at University of Rennes. Here he focused on the synthesis and evaluation of new ruthenium-based catalysts to implement olefin metathesis processes and carbene chemistry. Since May 2023 he holds a position as Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry at the University of Pisa, working on electrooxidative/reductive transformations in organic synthesis, C-H functionalization of heterocycles and mechanochemistry. He spent one week in May 2024 in the HOCA group at the ISQCH (CSIC-University of Zaragoza) as Erasmus+ fellow.
